Background
Build Change is seeking an experienced impact monitoring / information management and reporting (IMR) professional with proven success in assessing, designing and implementing IMR systems, with specific emphasis on the assessment of indirect impacts. The successful candidate will possess the ability to build upon existing ideas and systems and mentor Build Change’s IMR staff in Haiti to expand and improve impact monitoring systems.
Scope of Work
Work with CEO and senior management team to put in writing Build Change’s existing approach to indirect impact monitoring and reporting
- Document and tabulate Build Change’s indirect impacts from the Haiti program, including but not limited to reviewing project reports, performing field surveys, and interviewing partner agencies, engineers, builders and homeowners; focus on projects started in 2011 or later and longer than 6 months in duration
- Establish requirements and procedures for indirect impact data collection and train program staff to collect and compile these data
- Expand on Build Change’s overall monitoring, evaluation and reporting strategy for the Haiti program, including
- Assess existing Build Change IMR tools and procedures (database and collection tools); research, suggest and implement improvements
- Develop a standardized metrics dashboard that can be applied organization-wide
- Identify capacity needs and build capacity of Build Change’s Haiti team to execute strategy
- Mentor program staff to interview builders and homeowners, take photographs and write stories for reports and Build Change’s website
- Craft and execute a post-program impact evaluation strategy to assess long-term impacts of Build Change’s work
- Quantify cost per impact and Social ROI
- Prepare written monthly reports, interim reports and final reports as defined in the next section

Reporting
The consultant reports to the Build Change CEO.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years consulting experience or professional experience in a supervisory role doing impact monitoring for a social enterprise or similar organization
- Degree in information systems, data management, architecture, engineering or related field
- Proven ability to deliver client-ready, accurate work product on time
- Demonstrated ability to work with and mentor in country personnel
- Systematic, thorough and details-oriented approach to data collection and analysis
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Access, and other Office and publishing applications
- Familiarity with earthquake engineering, construction and architecture terms
- Fluent English and excellent, professional communications skills
- International development experience with experience in Haiti a strong plus
- Willingness and physical ability to live and work in a post-disaster setting, which often requires work in excess of 40 hours per week under difficult conditions
- No ego, drama, or pessimism; the successful consultant will be flexible, humble, patient, and have a good sense of humor
- Working knowledge of French and Haitian Creole are strong pluses
The monthly rate, term and not-to-exceed professional fees for this project are as follows:

Other Benefits and Covered Expenses
Build Change will also provide for or reimburse the following items:
- Airfare and related travel expenses to and from Port-au-Prince, Haiti for up to two separate trips
- Lodging while in Haiti at Build Change’s furnished guesthouse
- Food allowance while in Haiti of $20 per day
- Access to a Build Change vehicle and driver while in Haiti in accordance with Build Change’s Haiti Safety & Security Protocols
- Emergency Evacuation Insurance coverage while in Haiti
- Haiti cell phone with monthly plan to be used for business purposes
