Founded in 2004, Build Change is a non‐profit social enterprise whose mission is to save lives in earthquakes and hurricanes. Build Change designs disaster-resistant houses and schools, trains homeowners, builders, engineers and government officials to build them, works with governments to develop and implement building standards, partners with the private sector to improve building materials quality and create jobs, and facilitates access to incentive-based capital for reconstruction and retrofitting by partnering with financing institutions and government subsidy programs. Build Change started its work in Aceh, Indonesia after the 2004 earthquake and tsunami and has since expanded to include programs in China, Haiti, Colombia, Guatemala, Nepal, and the Philippines. Build Change has trained more than 39,380 people on earthquake-resistant design and construction techniques, guided 74 organizations in using homeowner-driven design, created over 16,768 jobs and provided technical assistance for almost 58,328 safer buildings, impacting an estimated 304,440 people.


Position Description:

We are looking for a JavaScript (React Native) developer who is proficient with React.js. Your primary focus will be on developing backend and frontend (i.e. Mobile-End). You will ensure that these components and the overall application are robust and easy to maintain. You will coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and quality product is important.


Key Responsibilities:

•     Integration of robust set of services / APIs to power the mobile application
•     Building reusable code and libraries for future use
•     Assurance of technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
•     Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
•     Implementation of security and data protection

Requirements:

•     1 year or more experience in React Native development.
•     Proficiency in JavaScript, Ecmascript, React.
•     Ensuring high performance on mobile.
•     Good visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.
•     Experience creating front end applications using React Native.                 
•     Good understanding of Database schema, design, optimization, scalability.                                                                                         
•     Ability to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
•     Ownership of the product from start to finish.     
•     Knowledge of software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), SCRUM and AGILE Methodology.
•     Good knowledge of Git, Gitlab/bitbucket/Github etc.
•     Rock solid at working with third-party dependencies and debugging dependency conflicts.
•     Working Experience in using graphics library and animation library is a big plus.
•     Good communication skills, strong work ethic.
•     Willing to learn new technologies as they grow.
