YOUR NEW OPPORTUNITY

As the Colombia BIM Engineer, you will support the Building Information Modeling developments of the Build Change Engineering and Design Team to continue the current developments for BIM implementation such as: Automated routines (Scripts) for housing retrofitting and improvement, integrating graphical components, structural analysis and architectural design, quantities take off, cost estimations, construction details, among others.

This position is part of both the Engineering team and the Technology team, reports to the Colombia Lead Structural Engineer and receives direction from the Technology for Engineering Project Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a key player in the BIM and technology for engineering developments that Build Change is implementing in Colombia.
  • Develop a deep understanding and application capacity of the BIM and engineering resources developed for informal housing improvement and structural retrofitting by Build Change for Colombia, and the needs of the users implementing them on the field.
  • Participate in the review and development of new structural and architectural designs, construction quantities, checklists and training material for partners and clients.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of training sessions (both in office and in field) for engineers, builders, architects, designers and other internal Build Change staff and for partners and clients.
  • Support the development of Build Change technological tools, especially those related to BIM, using software like Autodesk Revit and Dynamo.
  • Solve problems and contribute to proposing engineering solutions for structural retrofits, as applied to informal low-rise masonry housing types in Colombia.
  • Prepare reports on projects.
  • Participate in training and technical assistance delivered to local partner organizations, apprentices and homeowners.


OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

You have:

  • A University degree in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Coding skills or experience programming in Python or other similar software are a plus.

Your experience includes:

  • Being an able user of Autodesk Revit, or similar BIM software. Familiarity with Autodesk Dynamo, or Robot is a plus.
  • The ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical persons.
  • Being proficient in written and spoken English and Spanish.

You would describe yourself as:

  • Optimistic, flexible, humble, patient, and having a good sense of humor.
  • Having no ego, drama, or pessimism; the successful candidate will be flexible, humble, patient, solution-focused and have a good sense of humor.

And maybe you also:

  • Have worked in the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia or emerging nations.
  • Speak Spanish, French or any of the languages spoken in our program countries.
