Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 based on experience

YOUR NEW OPPORTUNITY

Build Change is seeking an Advocacy & Development Associate to join the Global team. The Advocacy & Development Associate will provide critical additional capacity to both the Global Advocacy and Global Fund Development teams, to help elevate disaster-resilient housing on global and US development agendas and support communications with our donors.

In this position, you will be expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Write and edit high-quality content, including newsletters, factsheets, impact reports, meeting requests, research briefs, and other communications, for a range of audiences
  • Support team members to prepare for meetings and events with potential donors, national and international governmental officials, the NGO community, and networks and associations;
  • Take notes, document key outcomes, and manage logistics and follow-up of conferences, events, and donor meetings via online task management systems
  • Oversee the tracking of donations in the CRM and acknowledgment of all donations in an accurate, timely and appropriate manner
  • Improve and maintain Build Change’s profiles on external fund development and ratings websites, including compliance with Guidestar and Charity Navigator.
  • Help build, manage, and improve the processes and procedures for the Advocacy and Fund Development teams
  • Attend events (virtually and/or in person) and support the production of Build Change events and webinars through coordination with speakers and panelists, organization of tech elements and logistical prep
  • Monitor and research policy and related developments pertaining resilient housing and identify opportunities where Build Change can strategically act alone or in alliance with others to strengthen policy and practice
  • The Advocacy & Development Associate is expected to fulfill other tasks and take-on other responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.

This position will work remotely from the United States. Candidates are strongly preferred to reside within 100 miles of Boston, MA; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; or Washington, DC.

You presently have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in international affairs, government, political science, or communications
  • Extraordinary communication, writing, researching, and speaking skills. You know how to find answers and communicate simply and convincingly.
  • Experience of fundraising and communicating with donors
  • Event planning and hosting experience. You’ve put together successful strategic events and meetings, both virtual and in person.
  • Social media confidence and savvy. You are a natural using technology and networking through social media.
  • A strategic and detail-oriented skillset. You can work independently and focus on details yet fully embrace and articulate the big vision and organizational strategy. You can prioritize opportunities and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

You are able to:

  • Quickly grasp complex topics and communicate them to diverse audiences through creative and engaging content.
  • Research and report succinctly, to give the “bottom line up front” and connect your learning to what decision-makers need to know.
  • Work effectively, both independently and in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Use your initiative but know when to ask for support.
  • Ensure coherence and consistency in spite of urgent deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly, persuasively and passionately, in both written and verbal forms, with excellent interpersonal skills.
