YOUR NEW OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Mozambique Field Coordinator, the Mozambique Technical Interpreter will collaborate with the national team on the interpretation, and the translation of project related documentation, as well as meeting attendance and note taking.

 

MOZAMBIQUE TECHNICAL INTERPRETER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpretation: Responsible for verbal interpretation and translation between English and Portuguese, and vice versa, on matters that include construction, architecture, civil engineering, climate adaptation, logistics, administration, and security. This will primarily include interpretation for English speaking team members, such as the Field Coordinator, when they interact with:
    • Non-English speaking team members
    • Government officials
    • Project stakeholders
    • Homeowners, builders and community members
    • NGO representatives
  • Meeting Attendance & Note Taking: Responsible for taking comprehensive notes on specific meetings and conversations, and keeping track of individuals names and contact information as directed by the Field Coordinator
  • Translation: Responsible for translation of technical documents from English to Portuguese and vice versa. The documents are expected to include matters of construction, architecture, civil engineering, climate adaptation, logistics, administration, and security.
  • Location & Travel: Job located in Nampula, Mozambique, with occasional travel to Maputo and to other project areas such as Nacala, Pemba and Montepuez.
  • Safety & Security: Respect Build Change Mozambique Safety & Security SOPs.

 

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Three years of experience in Portuguese-English interpretation and/or translation.
  • Three years of experience in NGO/UN/Development work.
  • Willingness to be based full-time in Nampula.

Other Requirements

  • This position is open to Mozambique Nationals only.
  • This position requires fluency in Portuguese and English.
